| Update Your Look For the Holiday
Season |
 |
The holiday parties are coming and you don't have a thing
to wear! Perhaps this year you don't have the budget to
purchase a new outfit. Maybe your company isn't doing the "big
event" this year but will be doing a simple get-together
leaving you uncertain what to wear. We have
answers!
How can you make last years holiday look
new and different for this year? Start with the basics;
solid colors and simple fabrics, then add accessories to dress
it up or down. A basic dress or pantsuit in solid colors and
fabrics will get you many more outfits for your money.
We hear so much about the "little black dress", A
simple black dress is a wardrobe essential but it does not
have to be black. Solid fabrics in red, blue, white, cream or
gray will also work. Begin with the color that looks best on
you.
Simple tips to update last years dress or
pantsuit. Adding a new scarf or shawl; Pashmina,
velvet burnout, sequins and beading are the latest trends sure
to bring you up to date. New jewelry will change the mood.
Adding a belt or sash is very "in" this year. Try altering the
garment by removing or adding sleeves or collar. Fur trim will
bring you into the season. Tailor the waistline with a couple
of tucks in the back. Changing the hemline, make it longer by
adding fancy fabric trim, or shorter, if you dare. Change last
years' color by dying it to this seasons' latest colors.
Dress it up. Add sparkle with accessories,
fabrics, and makeup. Rhinestones, crystals, glass beading and
sequins all add sparkle. Dress up your look with jewelry,
belts, scarves, trim, and buttons. Use makeup with gloss,
iridescence, glimmer and shine. Applied Body Glimmer
Trio to exposed neck and shoulders.
Keep in mind,
short hemlines, high slit or vent in skirt, spaghetti strap or
strapless, sandals and sheer hose, are dress it up looks for
evening events only. The more skin exposed the more formal and
for evening only the look. You don't want to send the wrong
message at the company party with an outfit that is too
revealing.
Dress it down. Minimize the
accessories. Take away the sparkle. Remove the trim or change
the buttons. Wear a simple strand of pearls or beads instead
of the rhinestones or crystals. Cover the exposed shoulder
with a jacket or shall. Change the hemline to knee or calf
length. Stitch the slit skirt to a less revealing opening.
Wear closed toe and heal shoes and darker color hose.
Update your hairstyle. A simple change of
hairstyle can change your look. Add a hair accessory. Pull
long hair up. Lift short styles at the temples or bangs with
Piece
Out Shaping Stick. Find
the styling product that will work for your
hair.
Apply a few new makeup techniques or
colors. Create some fun and interest with makeup. New
lip and eye colors are an inexpensive way to change a look.
Experiment with new eye makeup techniques. Add drama with rich
colors and extra coat of mascara to the upper and lower lashes
for evening events. Check
out our hot holiday makeup.
Change your shoes.
We all love a reason to purchase a new pair of shoes!
New shoes may not change your look dramatically but will make
you feel like you have changed your look. This year slip into
the seasons' strapy sandals to dress up your look. Try the new
booties with stiletto heal to dress up the
pantsuit.
You don't have to purchase new shoes at all.
Add a pair shoe clips to change the look. Rhinestone clip
earrings added to your basic black pump change them from
office to cocktail party after hours.
Have fun and
appreciate each other. Yes, I think your appearance is
important but I strongly feel that how you treat yourself and
others is also a very important part of your image. Be kind
and considerate. Appreciate yourself and those around you.
Enjoy this season of loving one another.
Have fun at
the events. Give a hug and a sincere compliment to everyone
you meet, appropriately of course.
Happy Holidays
from all of us at Your Best Image!
We wish you a
wonderful holiday season.
