Bad Hair DayThere are many reasons for a “bad hair day”; the style, the styling products and process, the color, even the weather can effect how your hair looks. We clip, curl, straighten, color, gel, spray, tease, twist, pin, and braid. The options are endless! The best thing you can do for your hair is to find a style that compliments your facial shape, a color that blends with your skintone, and products that work for your unique hair texture. Once you find this balance, the process will be easy and "bad hair days" will be no more. Hair Color QuestionsHair color that does not compliment your skintone and eyes will never look “right”. It’s not the color; it’s the fact that the color does not blend with your skin and eyes. A good colorist is very important. Your hair stylist may not be an expert in color. You may need to seek out 2 specialists, one for color, one for style. What color should I use? This is a very involved question, one that is unique to each individual. In general, try to duplicate the natural color of your hair. Colors that are not natural or not close to how your hair once looked probably will not compliment your skintone. Have your color analysis done; the suggestions you receive will include suggestions for hair color. Covering gray is always difficult. A good colorist is important if you have to cover gray. It may mean visiting the salon every 3 weeks. I sometimes recommend my clients leave the gray. Many shades of gray are very beautiful. It looks so much better to be a natural gray than to have roots showing. It is easy to know when you need to refresh your hair color. When roots start peeking through or the color looks faded or brassy, it is time to color. Don't procrastinate; roots and faded color are very unattractive and unprofessional! How do I keep my hair color vibrant and beautiful?Try to wash your hair less. Washing every day will fade the color faster. When you do cleanse, use haircare products specifically formulated for colored hair. I recommend Satinique Gentle Daily Hair Cleanser specially formulated for color treated hair. Cover your hair when in the sun. Sun exposure can cause hair color to fade or get brassy. The same goes for wind, salt, and chlorine. StylingA good hairstyle is important. The style must “work” for your hair texture and facial shape. Styling should not be a struggle. If it is, the style is probably not working for you. Your hair stylist can tell you if a style is right for you.
